THE CAVE: plato's Allegory Revisited
"We all know the same truth and our lives consist of how we choose to distort it." Woody Allen
Maruschak’s diagnosis with an incurable blood cancer brought her face to face with the myth of immortality. THE CAVE: Plato’s Allegory Revisited explores the nature of reality. Shifting window frames, coloured doorways and translucent light are coupled with melancholic hallucinations filled with shadows and reflections. Minimalist representations of soft light follow. Dreamy veiled images, portraying fictional human narratives, meant to tempt/provoke the viewer’s imagination close the series. THE CAVE unveils the dynamic tension between life, death and the thin space in-between.
